Edenred partners with ShareTheMeal to promote global food access

The "Nutrition for Growth" summit, taking place in Paris on March 27-28, marks the beginning of a collaboration between the Edenred Group and the United Nations' World Food Programme. WFP is the world's largest humanitarian organization, providing food assistance to people recovering from conflicts, disasters, and climate change.

Through our collaboration, the Edenred Group is collecting donations for those in need via the ShareTheMeal initiative, with the help of all Edenred countries. This year is a significant milestone as it marks a full decade since the launch of the initiative by the UN World Food Programme in 2015.

ShareTheMeal makes it easy and accessible for anyone willing to donate a meal. Donations can be made with just a few clicks directly through the website or mobile app.

Just 70 cents provides a meal for someone in need

Donations made – both big and small – offer meals and nutritional support to those in need. A donation of only 70 cents already guarantees one meal!

There are over 733 million people in the world who do not have enough food. Ongoing wars, conflicts, climate change, crises, and poverty contribute to global injustice, where not everyone has the opportunity to eat nutritiously or access information about proper nutrition. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) is at the forefront, ensuring that food donations made through ShareTheMeal reach those who need it most.

WFP operates in over 120 countries, helping more than 100 million people. Assistance is provided in countries such as Ukraine, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan, and Yemen. In addition to food aid, WFP shares information on innovative and sustainable agricultural practices as well as healthy, nutritious diets. According to the World Bank, every euro donated generates an average return of 23 euros for the local economy in crisis areas.

The opportunity for a nutritious meal is a core value for us

At Edenred, both in Finland and globally, we manage food programs that enable tens of millions of employees to enjoy their daily lunch during the workday. By supporting WFP, the world's largest humanitarian organization, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of access to nutritious food and provide assistance in the form of meals. Therefore, we have set a goal to donate a total of 100,000 meals through our collaboration with WFP.

Every day, Edenred's digital solutions empower over 60 million users to meet their basic food needs, fueling a virtuous circle that benefits both employee health and the local economy. This partnership with the World Food Programme illustrates our commitment by allowing those who are fortunate enough to access daily meals to fund a meal for people in need, states the Chairman and CEO of Edenred, Bertrand Dumazy
