How to use the Edenred's lunch benefit

Edenred’s lunch benefit, known as Lounari, makes it easier to enjoy a tasty meal during the working day. You can use it to pay for meals at restaurants, cafés, kiosks, Wolt, restaurant cars in trains, and grocery stores. And you’re not limited to traditional lunch hours – hunger doesn’t always look at the time!

How can you use the lunch benefit?

With Lounari, you can pay for your own meals within the daily minimum and maximum limits set by the Finnish Tax Administration and the spending limit set by your employer. You can check your limit in the Lounari page of the Edenred app, just below your balance.

The lunch benefit is intended to be used once per working day. However, it isn’t tied to a specific time of day or day of the week, so you can use it whenever hunger strikes. Remember that Lounari is a personal payment method and can only be used to pay for your own meals.

What can you pay for with Lounari?

Enjoy meals at restaurants, cafés, kiosks and restaurant cars in trains. Whether you’re in the mood for a served dish, a self-service buffet or something to take away, Lounari has you covered. You can also use the benefit at grocery stores for eligible meals, such as hot dishes from the service counter, salads from the salad bar and filled sandwiches prepared in-store.

You can also order a meal for delivery through services such as Wolt or Kotipizza. The lunch benefit can cover delivery costs for eligible items, too.

Lounari cannot be used to pay for other people’s meals or to buy alcohol, tobacco products, convenience foods, groceries, drinks, sweets or other consumer goods. The payment must always be for a meal eligible under the lunch benefit.

How to pay with Lounari

Once you’ve activated your Edenred card and received lunch balance, you can pay at locations part of Edenred network using Edenred Pay, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You can also link your bank card to the Edenred app; when you select Edenred as your payment method on Wolt or Kotipizza online store, any amount exceeding your lunch benefit is conveniently charged to your bank card.

At the checkout, tell the cashier that you’d like to pay with your Edenred lunch benefit. You can choose how much of your benefit to use, as long as the amount is within the applicable payment limits and your balance meets the minimum limit. If the meal costs more than the maximum amount covered by your benefit, pay the difference using another payment method. If the meal costs less than the minimum limit, tax rules still require the minimum amount to be charged to your benefit.

Example: If you have 20€ of lunch balance and want to use 10€ of it, ask the cashier to charge 10€ to Lounari and pay the rest using another payment method. That way, you can use the remaining balance later. If you paid for a 14€ lunch entirely with Lounari, you would have 6€ left in your account. You can use that balance once you’ve received more balance to meet the minimum limit of the benefit.
