Important information for merchants
during coronavirus pandemic

We’ve collected the most important information for you to be aware of during the corona pandemic here.

Lunch benefit Merchants

Lunch benefit can be used to pay for meal delivery

The Finnish Tax Authority has made a temporary exception to the lunch benefit usage rule. The benefit can now be used to pay for meal delivery. This exception is valid from 24 March 2020 to 31 August 2020.
The lunch allowance remains the same, from 6.80 € to 10.70 € per working day.

You can read the Finnish Tax Authority’s news about the change here.

Signature is no longer needed when making contactless payments with Edenred

Contactless payments made with the Edenred employee benefits card will no longer have to be signed by the cardholder. This applies to contactless payments under 50€ which are made with the plastic Edenred card, or with Apple Pay or Google Pay. The payment terminals will continue to produce a receipt until they have been updated to support the change – but no signature is needed. Please keep in mind that despite the lifting of the signature requirement, the tax administration still mandates that merchants be aware of the method of payment (ie. that the customer is paying with an employee benefits card).

How do I proceed if an event is cancelled due to coronavirus and it was paid with Edenred virike benefit?

This depends on the payment method. A voucher that has already been credited cannot be refunded, and due to the exceptional circumstances (force majeure) the merchant should contact the Tax Administration on a case-by-case basis and ask for more instructions. Edenred is not able to make decisions on issues which are in the jurisdiction of the tax administration.

If the payment has been made with Edenred card, ApplePay or GooglePay, the refund can be performed normally. The process is the same for the Edenred card as for a credit card or debit card. Your payment service provider can give you instructions on how to do this if you are not sure.

If the payment is made with MyEdenred-application, it can be cancelled within 24 hours of the transaction. If the payment has been made more than 24 hours ago, please contact Edenred Customer Service to cancel the transaction.
